Our technicians average 25 years' experience in the alarm industry, and most have been with us since the start. All Aressco technicians are factory trained by each of the major alarm manufacturers. No matter how old your system may be, if it is repairable, rest assured we have the expertise to keep it functioning.
Our central monitoring center is located right here in south Miami-Dade county, one of the last truly local central stations left in South Florida. Our central station is approved and listed by ETL Intertek, one of the world's largest Testing, Inspection and Certification company. As a listed company, our central station must meet or exceed the NFPA and UL requirements, the most stringent standards in the industry.
Our history involves two separate companies: Aressco, Inc. in Kendall, and Assured Security Company of Homestead.
Aressco, Inc. was incorporated in 1979 by Don Richter, then 18, as a means of paying for his college education. After college, the increasing need for security systems in south Florida would turn it into his career. Aressco grew to become a respected name in the alarm industry in South Florida, with thousands of satisfied customers from Palm Beach to the Keys.
Assured Security Company began operations in Homestead, Florida in 1974. In 1985, Matthew Forristall and his partner, Robert Houston, assumed control, and Assured grew into Homestead's premier security and fire alarm company. Assured provided monitoring and service across the State of Florida, with the majority of its customers residing in Dade and Monroe counties. In 1992, following Hurricane Andrew, Assured, like most of Homestead, had to start over. By 1995, with their reputation for quality and personalized service, it had become the largest independent alarm company in Homestead.
In 1995 and 1996, the alarm industry underwent a massive consolidation, and a large percentage of smaller independent alarm companies were acquired by larger companies. It was during that time that both companies, like many other local independent alarm companies, were acquired by Republic Industries. In a little over one year, however, Republic sold off their alarm division, abandoned the industry, and became what is now known as AutoNation USA.
While Matt and Don enjoyed their early retirement, they missed the industry they had helped pioneer. Because many of their customers were also their friends, they were also very aware of the chaos caused by the consolidation and reconsolidation. With encouragement from former customers, employees, and friends, the two joined forces in September 1997, to open Aressco Services, Inc.
At the same time, Bob Houston, Matt's former partner, and brother-in-law, also opened a new company called Solarbeam Security, Inc. Solarbeam Security manufactures outdoor perimeter, solar-powered and completely wireless security detection devices.
